This vehicle is acompletely custom, one-off build, that took 11 years to assemble.This car is is extremely clean and fully detailed and ready to showand go. While this car has been actively featured in car shows itwas never actually raced. This hot rod was built in the traditionalearly 60s Gasser style Drag Racer genre, and this vehicle trulycaptures the spirit of these Kings of the Drag Strip! Painted inblue metallic, the finish was professionally applied over expertlyexecuted body and finish work that shines brilliantly. This Coupewas further decorated with era-correct sponsor stickers includingSpanky's Speed Shop completed in gold metal-flake background andaccurate A Gas lettering. The fiberglass front end tilts forward toopen up to the engine compartment. All headlights, marker lights,turn signals and brake lights are functioning and are street legal.The doors and rear trunk are also fully functional with workinglatch mechanisms. The front grille and headlight bezels areoriginal-style Willys pieces. The reproduction Vintage FirestoneRacing slicks mounted on American Racing Torq-Thrust wheels outback and with Mickey Thompson race radials mounted on Rocket racing10-spoke aluminum wheels up front finish the classic look of thisvintage racer. Inside the cabin of this Willys is all business witha full roll cage and dual bucket seats. The racing seats featurediamond stitching in the black vinyl inserts that match the innerdoor panels. The roll cage also has anchors behind the seats forracing harnesses as well. The race-inspired buckets have built-upbolsters for better support and added foam padding for more comforton drives that are longer than 400 meters. A vintage Grant chromethree-spoke steering wheel with foam grip caps the steering columnthat is also equipped with a vintage turn signal kit. A set ofStewart Warner gauges monitor the powerplant's vitals along with acenter dash-mounted speedometer to keep the driver honest and atachometer to keep those shifts at the precise RPM. The onlyoptions on this car is the addition of power windows and electricwindshield wipers. Under the hood sits a vintage 278cid Hemi V8.This motor is topped with a Roots-style supercharger and twovintage Weber Magneti Marelli 4bbl carburetors. An MSD ignitionlights the spark and the burned exhaust gases pass through a set ofcustom headers that exit out the inner fenders. A set of polishedaluminum valve covers add a little vintage cool to this seriouspowerplant. An aluminum HD radiator with twin electric fans helpskeep this hot setup running nice and cool. Power is transferredthrough a 4-speed manual transmission with a hydraulic clutch backto a Ford 9 rear differential. The frame is a custom unit withboxed frame rails featuring a 4-link rear suspension with coil-overshocks supporting the rear differential. Up front, this coupe isall old school with a tubed straight axle riding on leaf springsand gas shocks giving this Willys the classic flying high front-endGasser stance! 4-wheel disc brakes with custom plumbed brake linesprovide some serious stopping power. A polished aluminum fuel cellis fitted out back between the frame rails and accessed through anopening in the trunk for refueling. A volume electric fuel pumppushes fuel through hand-fabricated fuel lines up to the engine. Acustom dual exhaust flows through a set of MagnaFlow stainlesschamber mufflers giving this hot rod a serious rumble.
