1963 Porsche 356B T6 Vin#213868 #212105Matching Numbers €“ Twin GrilleThe Porsche 356 was the company's first production automobile. It was a lightweight and nimble-handling rear-engine rear-wheel-drive 2-door sports car available in hardtop coupe and open configurations. Design innovations continued during the years of manufacture, contributing to its motorsports success and popularity. Production started in 1948 at Gmnd, Austria, where approximately 50 cars were built. In 1950 the factory relocated to Zuffenhausen, Germany, and general production of the 356 continued until April 1965, well after the replacement model 911 made its autumn 1963 debut. It is estimated approximately half of the total production of 76,000 356s still survive. The Porsche 356, close to stock or highly modified, has enjoyed much success in rallying, the 24 hours of Le Mans, the 1000 km Buenos Aires, the Mille Miglia, the Targa Florio, the Carrera Panamericana, as well as many other important car racing events.The mid 1962 356B model was changed to the T6 body type (twin engine lid grilles, an external fuel filler in the right front wing/fender and larger windows).Our 1963 Porsche 356B Coupe is numbers-matching engine and one owner since new. Bought new in Marin Country California in 1963 and kept there ever since. The original owner was a doctor.Factory-original metal with numbers-matching doors, hood and decklid. Original Ivory color now painted green. Original floors needs some rust repair, but the upper structures of the car is in great condition with all the factory spot welds visible and untouched. Serviced and in good running and driving condition. A Porsche Technician just completed over $3000 worth of mechanical work to this car: pulled the fuel tank and had it cleaned and relined, replaced several control arm bushings and one ball joint, and did an entire brake job, among other things.Excellent old driver or candidate for 100-pt restoration
