CSX9167The Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe was the final piece of the puzzlethat Shelby American needed to capture the FIA sports car worldchampionship. It won the crown in 1965, becoming the only Americanmanufacturer to do so. Peter Brock designed the slick, aerodynamicbody that gave the Daytona the edge on high-speed tracks around theworld. Only six Daytona coupes were built during the 1960s, butthey carved out an unforgettable racing legacy. The CSX9000 series is a modern evolution of the car that ruled thetrack in 1965. Penned by original designers Peter Brock and BobNegstad and constructed by Shelby American, the CSX9000Continuation Daytona Coupes have a larger passenger compartmentthan the original race cars, allowing for greater comfort, andfeature a tubular space frame constructed of mild steel. CSX9167 carries on that championship spirit with its Guardsman Bluepaint and Wimbledon White racing stripes. Roundels on the doors,hood, and rear carry the number 98, Carroll Shelby's favoriteracing number, and also fielded at various times by such legendaryShelby team drivers as Dan Gurney, Ken Miles, and Dave MacDonald.Accents include a period correct Le Mans-style fuel filler cap, arear spoiler, standard reverse light, Shelby signature doorlatches, functional ducts and scoops for cooling and brakes, andpolished 18-inch wheels with dark gray centers mounted with Nittotires. CSX9167's performance capabilities back up the competition GT looksthanks to a Roush 427IR small block Ford V8 with Borla 8-Stack fuelinjection, silver ceramic headers feeding side pipes, engine oilcooler, and an aluminum radiator. The engine is teamed with a6-speed TREMEC manual transmission and power is sent out back to analuminum limited slip differential. Handling and stopping ability are equally sharp, with independentsuspension with coilover shocks and springs, power-assistedrack-and-pinion steering, and Shelby GT-spec disc brakes. TheCSX9000-series comes standard with a 21 gallon stainless steel fueltank. The interior is ready for Grand Touring adventures, with airconditioning, leather bucket seats with Shelby logos, Alcantaraheadliner and dash surface, Dynamat sound deadening, original styleStewart-Warner gauges, power steering, power windows, and powerdoor locks. A roll bar adds security to the premium interiormaterials. Eligible for the Shelby American Automobile Club owners registry,CSX9167 is titled in Ohio as a 1964 Shelby 2d Cobra Coupe, has only1,200 miles and is now listed for $264,950.
