The Chevrolet Impala was a big hit in the 1960s, eventually selling over one million units in a single year. But in 1966 it spawned a new model - the Caprice. Previously a luxury trim package on the Impala, it was now a standalone model and represented Chevrolets top-of-the-line full size offering. This example wears the badge well with its rust-free AZ body, rebuilt 327ci engine, factory air conditioning, and thousands in recent upgrades. It also offers a remarkably nice ride that you might not expect from a 58-year-old vehicle. This Caprice was built at the Southgate (Los Angeles) plant during the second week of December, 1965 and spent its first 50 years in Arizona. Be sure to look at the underside photos; its always a treat to have such beautiful floors! The body wears an older repaint in its original Artesian Turquoise and appears to have all its original sheetmetal which, despite a handful of minor dings, remains straight and solid without any filler. The 15 aluminum wheels wear Cooper tires (235/60 front, 245/60 rear) and give the car a sporty look. The factory wheel covers are also included. Under the hood is the original HF-suffix 327ci engine with an assembly date of December 1, 1965. The engine has been rebuilt with an estimated 1,000 miles since completion. The block received an overbore and the rotating assembly was fully balanced for very smooth operation. It also received a stock 300hp camshaft with hydraulic lifters and roller rockers. Additional upgrades include an HEI distributor, Edelbrock Performer EPS intake, and Holley 4-barrel carburetor with electric choke. The dual exhaust features new manifolds and Magnaflow mufflers for a little attitude. The car comes with many of its original parts including the intake manifold, Quadrajet carburetor, air cleaner, and AIR (smog) pump. The original Powerglide. Still available at ListedBuy!
