Conviction Built For SEMA Nicknamed "Conviction Cuda," this car was built for the 2008 SEMAshow in Las Vegas and a cost is no object build that has resultedin one of the most visually and technologically stunningpro-touring cars to cruise the streets. Built with parts andsupplies from all the big names in the automotive business, thisprofessionally built Cuda has a great chance of winning every showin which it enters. No corners were cut, no shortcuts were taken,and this car stands at the pinnacle of the pro-touringmovement. Body Work Perfection All the body modifications, and there are many, have been done insteel. No fiberglass, no flexible stuff pulled from a mold, noteven OEM pieces that have been adapted, just hand-formed steel. Therear spoiler has been molded into the fender, and there is acustom-made hood with OEM-looking nostrils. Look closely and youwill see flush-mounted glass, shaved door handles and drip rails,and fabricated front and rear valence panels. In the rear is acustom-made rear panel that houses custom taillights that arehand-made LED lights that give it a modern look at night. Like wesaid, perfection! Paint, Paint and More Paint Part of the show-stealing is certainly due to the paint job. Donein PPG Silver Star and Vibrant Purfect Purple with a lot ofairbrush work, the car is visually arresting in person. The finishis the result of hundreds of hours of bodywork, top-qualityfinishes, and another several hundred hours of wet sanding andbuffing every square inch. Then there's the unique strobe stripe,which is paint, not a decal, and is a combination of air brushtechniques and pinstriping that gives it an almostthree-dimensional look that seems to be jumping off the metal. Now For the Power There was never any doubt when this project started that it wouldbe Hemi-powered. But not any old Hemi would be enough, so a modern6.1-liter Hemi was selected for duty. It is an Arrington-builtpiece that cranks out more than 525 horsepower. Forget tuningcarburetors, the fuel delivery is handled by a Holley Sniper EFIunit. The Rest of The Story There's a Tremec TKO500 5 speed transmission behind the HEMIpowerhouse that makes the most of the engine's horsepower. Outback, is a Chrysler 8.75-inch rear with 3.91 gears on a limitedslip. Brakes are from Baer and feature massive vented andcross-drilled rotors at all four corners. Those openings in thefront fascia are not just for show, they feed the front brakes asteady supply of cool air. Long tube headers connect to astainless-steel X-pipe and Flowmaster mufflers before terminatingin custom tips molded into the rear valence. The perfect stance isachieved by a set of polished 18" and 20" Bonspeed Quasar wheelswith 245/40ZR18 front and 295/35ZR20 rear Nitto Invo tires. Looking Inside Open the door and the first thing you'll notice is that thegraphics from the exterior continue into the door jambs, which isalways the sign of first-rate paint work. Then you'll notice theCorvette bucket seats that have been custom upholstered. The doorpanels were specially fabricated for this car and hold matchinginserts to really tie the whole interior together. A custom consolewas fabricated to resemble the original Cuda, but it now features acarbon-fiber insert. A billet pistol grip shifter controls the5-speed, a cool update on the original that looks right at home inthis Hemi Cuda. The original dashboard has been reshaped and moldedto hold a set of Autometer white face gauges. An Alpine head unitis nestled up front, while massive Kicker speakers in their owncustom enclosures.
