1974 Volkswagen Thing Type 181- Only 72,688 Miles!The late BobBondurant purchased the 1974 Thing in 1989 and used it layout theBob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving Track in Chandler,AZ. It then became the 'go to, go for, get whatever' vehicle at thetrack until it was retired to the museum. The stock engine wasreplaced with 1.8 liter flat 4 with Crane Cams electronic ignition,2 Dellorto DRLA 40 carbuertors, and a Supertrapp exhaust systembuilt by Competition Engineering. The drivetrain is a stock 4-speedmanual transmission, stock brakes, KYB shocks, and 15" chrome steelwheels. The speedo shows 72K original miles. The original seatshave been replaced with black vinyl/yellow piping seats and all newwindows were built. In addition the parking brake was replaced.along with all fuel lines, and front door locks. Bob Bondurantpersonally sign the dashboard. Edgefinder VW Services, a classic VWspecialist, inspected, serviced, and Tuned up Thing includingrepair/replacing windshield wipers, wiper blades, and wiring.Rebuilding the carburetors, repair/replacing E -brake cables,fixing turn signals, headlights, and brake lights. We have receiptsfor everything.
