West Coast Classics are proud to present an absolutely exceptionalexample of this very rare 1979 Porsche 928 4.4L V8 230HP 5 speedmanual Coupe! Finished in the desirable and beautiful colorcombination of its 'Grand Prix White' (paint code 908) with itsoriginal 'Tan' color leather seats interior! This particularexample is a superb and extremely striking example and hasobviously always been garaged and has no history of any accidentsor damage and has only some 94K original and well cared formiles.The original 928 is most easily recognized by the absence ofa rear spoiler which gives the car a sleeker look as the trunk sitsflush with the body with signature Lamborghini like 16" five hole'telephone dial' cast alloy wheels coming standard from the factoryon the 5 speed manuals but with only 15" alloys on the 3 speedautomatic models. Power came from Porsche's first ever eightcylinder all alloy water cooled 240bhp engine, a 4.5 liter Boschfuel injected V8.The original factory 'Grand Prix White' colorpaint is in very good condition as is the all original 'Tan'leather interior and beautiful original factory carpets. The cardrives exactly like a well maintained and serviced Porsche shouldand must be driven to be fully appreciated and seen to be believed!The engine is extremely strong with no oil leaks, the transmissionis very smooth and precise in shifting and the temperature alwaysremains cool. The erstwhile 911 replacement was conceived in theearly 70's with no resemblance to any of the marque's previousmodels. As different from the 911 as it could be with a frontmounted water cooled fuel injected V8 connecting to a reartrans-axle and Weissach independent suspension featuring selfcorrecting toe control. An all aluminum V8 with all disc brakes, anovel tilt steering wheel and instrument pod and comprehensivelyloaded with all the obvious refinements of a luxury GT. A bored5.0L V8 with twin cam heads and 32 valves replaced the previous4.7L in 1985 along with anti-lock brakes in '86. The handsomerestyled S4 (4th series) arrived in '87 with a reshaped nose,smaller tail and less aero drag and still more power. The GTS wasintroduced in 1993 and proved to be the final variation of the 928.The V8 was enlarged to 5.4L and put out 345HP. This finalincarnation was mildly revised in styling and remainscontroversial.These cars were all deceptively fast and well builtwith smooth and refined V8's and were true German supercars thatare only today beginning to be recognized outside the Porscheenthusiasts circles as the undervalued supercars which they mostcertainly are. They have terrific high speed handling abilitieswith all the obvious solid German craftsmanship. There were onlysome 5,437 928's built in '79 in total and only 2,275 of which werebuilt for the U.S market and these early models are now fastappreciating in price and this particular example with the rare andvery low production of being one of the highly desirable 5 speedmanual transmission models being built in 1987!You will look longand hard to find a finer and extremely rare factory loaded andunique example of this exceptionally clean and increasinglycollectible and desirable early model 1979 Porsche 928 V8 Coupewith a 5 speed manual transmission available anywhere else!
