The Monte Carlo was available with a wide array of luxury options and introduced only as a two door coupe model making it a successful assembly of visual elegance to be sure. Its expansive hood and front end design produced an unmistakable elegance which placed it in a class of its own. Proof of demand for such a vehicle was quickly provided with nearly 146000 units being sold in the first year of production.Size and engine displacements were altered over the years due to restrictive government imposed regulations. However the Monte Carlos appeal to the buying public continued to escalate production sales well into the six digit range for many years.The 1985 Monte Carlo was no exception 119057 models were produced for that year. The Monte Carlo we have here however is one of only 35484 SS versions to roll off the line in 1985 and its condition is exceptional. The burgundy metallic paint complimented by the SS badging and horizontal sport striping hold your attention immediately. Further review discloses the color-coded front and rear bumper covers trunk mounted spoiler and sport mirrors which help to neatly complete the design appeal.
