Thedistinction starts with the body. We don't see as many of theMercury Capris around anymore, and this is from the rare finalyear. This celebrates the best of the Carpi with the RS-style frontfacia and awesome heat extractor hood. The rear spoiler and darkpaint even make this look like the Black Magic car. But theconnection of the Mustang is instantly recognized by the way thebubble-back hatch was replaced with the pony car's fastback. Andthis even has the Mustang SVO rear panel. Plus, the bright exhausttips, custom rear chrome grille, chrome headlight bezels, and BBSwheels give this the right custom touches to really let people knowit's a unique build. The interior is inviting with leather upholstery, plush carpeting,a taut headliner, and a smooth dash. This custom is built forcomfortable cruising. So you have nice features like powersteering, an upgraded steering wheel, power locks, and powerwindows. There are even provisions for R134a air conditioning (itwill need servicing to blow cold again.) This is said to be a powerhouse from DonDixon's High-Performance engines and that Dugan Racing had it for acustomer who passed away before it could be installed in hisproject. So it became part of this in-house build. The consignorclaims this is a 351 cubic-inch V8 enlarged to 396ci total. Theinfo includes it has been enhanced and fortified with Twisted WedgeHeads, an Explorer intake, 81mm Pro M mass air meter, 30 lbsinjectors, a Lunati solid roller cam, roller rockers, and an MSDignition. It fires up with a terrific tune out of the X-pipe dualexhaust. It's the kind of car you want to take out on the streets.That's why you have a fully enhanced suspension with upgradedsprings, sway bars, control arms, subframe connectors, castercamber plates, and Koni adjustable shocks. The transmission is afour-speed automatic with a 2800 stall to keep you in the optimalpowerband, and it feeds into an 8.8 rear that's said to have anAuburn differential for confident take-offs. And the surefootedfeeling continues with the Cobra four-wheel power disc brakespackage and sport tires on 17-inch BBS wheels.
