This 1945 Willys MB is in truly excellent condition. The quality ofthe 'frame off' restoration is self-evident; and in our opinionthis is likely one of the finest WW2 jeeps to ever be offered forsale in North America. That said, it is not an overpriced trailerqueen, a concours winning museum piece with a $100,000.00 pricetag, a jeep too precious to ever be driven. Nope, simply put, it isa fantastic Willys MB, sensibly priced: turn-key ready and ready tobe enjoyed. A genuine benchmark tribute to honor the 80thanniversary of the D-Day landings of June 1944. The jeep hasundergone a recent in-depth 'frame off' restoration. The frame hasbeen stripped, blasted, inspected and painted in the correct shadeof olive drab green. Only at this stage was the rest of the vehicleassembled around it. But all the hard work paid off, for withoutany doubt, the underside of this Willys MB looks as stunning as thetop side. The MB's 134ci 'Go Devil' inline-four engine, and itsmated T84 transmission have both been rebuilt. The attention todetail of this mechanical work is stupendous: the restored enginebay, the engine itself and its attached ancillaries representnothing less than automotive artwork. Stunning in the extreme. Thejeep's wiring harness is a new high-quality (fabric covered) loom,a faithful reproduction of the original, with each wire carryingthe period correct tracer markings. The voltage regulator is a new,period correct high-quality reproduction. The fuel lines are new.The fuel pump is new. The ignition components are new. The six-voltbattery is new. The engine block and head are painted in correctolive drab green. The engine fires-up effortlessly, idles with thepurrs of a sleeping kitten, and pulls strong when ordered toperform. The MB has retained its extremely valuable six-voltelectronic layout. No WW2 jeep ever left the factory equipped withtwelve-volt electronics; and, in our opinion, any truly authenticWW2 jeep restoration must carry a six-volt system, a point of vitalimportance. The jeep is equipped with five brand new 'split rim'combat wheels. All five 6x16 'military' . tires are in 'as new'condition. These correct combat wheels and tires are essential toachieve that rare, truly authentic look; these endowing the jeepwith a very purposeful stance. The suspension is robust, thesteering responsive. The jeep's bodywork, its frame, tub, fenders,windshield surround, hood etc. are all in impeccable condition.There is no rust, anywhere, and everything has been carefullypainted in the correct (#33070) shade of WW2 olive drab green. Thejeep comes with four period correct cargo packs, mounted on itsflanks. These cargo packs really add to the jeep's appearance as atrue working warhorse. The rear of the Willys is equipped with anexcellent condition fuel 'jerrycan', just as should be fitted to a1945 jeep. There is also a custom made mounting and replica radiomast. This mast carries an authentic period correct forty-eightstar US flag (of the war years), along with the famed Normandylandings insignia of the 101st Airborne, E Company: the legendaryBand of Brothers. These pennants look stunning, a more fittingtribute we cannot envision. The MB comes complete with the iconicend-whipped tow rope, this finishing piece sits wrapped in loosecoils around the front bumper, just as it should be. The jeep alsofeatures a highly desirable Steve Matchett custom made (fullyfunctional) tool storage box, one designed to fit flawlesslybetween the front bumper and the MB's iconic grille. Handmade to aperfect 'Hollywood movie prop' quality, this bespoke timber box hasbeen impressively stencilled in white lettering; with thislettering and its underlying olive paint meticulously 'aged' toproduce a stunning patina finish.
