This 1957 Ford Thunderbird Convertible features the optional, twin-four-barrel 312-cu.in. V8 engine, which is code-E in the first character of the VIN. The car was the subject of “an older restoration, but has had minimal use, so it’s absolutely stunning,” the seller asserts. "It's registered in the Thunderbird Registry and was part of the Imperial Palace Hotel Museum collection in Las Vegas until they auctioned off the collection around 2000," he adds. The seller bought the car in 2024 from the previous owner who had purchased it from the Imperial Palace auction. “It's a rust-free example of a very rare collectable,” he notes. FEATURES The seller believes the mileage is accurate, based on the car’s original condition in certain areas.He also believes the code-E, 270-horsepower 312-cu.in. OHV V8 to be original to the car.New mufflers were installed in 2024 (the chassis photos show the old mufflers).So too, were a new fuel gauge sending unit and filler neck seal.The three-speed Fordomatic transmission shifts as designed.He doesn’t believe that the vehicle has ever suffered body damage.The Thunderbird “appears to have been repainted once,” according to the seller.Its hues are code-Q Thunderbird Bronze with a code-E Colonial White hard top.It also has a black soft top that remains in very good condition, he says.Code-XJ is the bronze interior trim.The seller says that the interior looks original, with no typical reproduction items.The Town and Country AM radio operates properly.Two new wheel cylinders, a hose, and four seals were installed in the power drum brakes.A set of 14-inch chromed wire wheels ride on wide-whitewall tires. COMES WITH The car comes with its hardtop.The owner’s manual is also included in the sale. NEEDS “There's a slight hint of smoke from the left exhaust tip when warming up,” the seller notes.“The fan belt squeaks if you rev the engine too quickly.”“There’s an imperfection in the clear on the driver’s door that’s detected under florescent light.”There’s some minor fluid seepage under the car.The clock doesn’t work. OVERVIEW This T-bird was reportedly part of the Imperial Palace Hotel Museum collection in Las Vegas.It’s one of between 1,344 and 1,499 E-Birds produced for 1957, depending upon the source.It's an older restoration that has been preserved well since its completion.The seller believes the odometer reading of less than 20,000 miles to be accurate.He welcomes pre-purchase inspections by potential buyers.
