Sunnyside Chevrolet of Elyria, Ohio in conjunction with Greg'sSports, Classic, & Muscle is proud to offer for sale this beautiful1964 Pontiac Lemans This one is a helluva story so please be patient as we go throughthe known history of this beautiful Yorktown Blue Lemans purchasednew by David Blair on January 11th 1964 in California and used as adaily driver until 1972 when she was retired from daily use andbecame a part of the Blair's Pontiac collection. As the story goes, David was an engineer at Pontiac in 1964 and hebought this beautiful Lemans as a long-time keeper. Over the firstfew years of ownership David went on a mission to turn his 3264-speed Lemans into a GTO just as would have come off the line in64. He sourced parts directly from the Pontiac factory- powerwindows, air-conditioning, a power antenna under hood light, GTOhood and emblems, split exhaust, air shocks, a GM fire extinguisherand more. Already in from the factory- beautiful dark blue bucketsand console interior, power steering, power brakes, and so muchmore. The story goes that when the car was about 4 years old David hadthe original paint on the Lemans clear coated. It's as it remainstoday. The original interior is still present and stunning, theoriginal engine compartment is unmolested save for disposablereplacement items. The chrome is as original as is the underside ofthe car. David was an avid Pontiac collector through the years as weunderstand and had amassed a fair number of cars and truckloadafter truckload of NOS parts- it's our understanding that he waswell known in the California Pontiac world. This is his firstPontiac. Look at the amazing paperwork- Protectoplate, owner's manual,registration, warranty paperwork and even an advertisement from theselling dealer. An 8x10 photo of David with his car as he built itis a testament to how he must have felt about this car. When he wasdone with it the car was a GTO in his way of thinking. Period. Wehave a 1978 magazine article about him and his collection- herefers to this as his 64 GTO. Nuff said... When John and I first saw this car, we knew it was coming in thefold. Period. There are hundreds of reworked versions of 64 PontiacLemans and GTOs out there. Cars with history, patina andoriginality like this come by very infrequently and we will alwaysbe proud to own examples like this. Is it a Lemans, is it a GTO?You decide, we decided it was too important a car to worryabout. Drive it, show it, keep it in a bubble and polish it as a prizedpossession, the choice is yours once you make it yours.
