Said to be a Connecticut car since new, this 1968 Pontiac Firebird Convertible has been with the seller since 1989. He had it repainted in 1991 and the reportedly original 350 engine has been rebuilt to H.O. specs. It’s backed by the claimed-original Muncie four-speed transmission. Additional equipment includes the optional fold-down rear seat, the Deluxe interior group with Comfort Weave upholstery and center console, a hood tach, and a 1969 Trans Am-style rear spoiler. “The car runs and drives like new,” says the seller, who adds the car shows “no signs of rust.” FEATURES According to the seller, the instrument cluster has been replaced, including the speedometer.The odometer shows approximately 10,000 miles and the previous one showed 71,000 miles.Per the seller, the car’s approximately total mileage is 81,000.The 350 V8 engine is said to be the car’s original and was rebuilt to H.O. specs in 1990.The upgrades were made with O.E. parts, including the intake, carburetor, and distributor.The block was bored 0.030-inch and wears #16 cylinder heads and long-branch exhaust manifolds.According to the seller, the engine made more than 300 horsepower in dyno testing.An aluminum radiator has replaced the original copper-core radiator.The car was repainted Verdoro Green in 1991 and the finish is said to remain in "great shape."Bodywork prior to painting included replacement of the rear inner fenders.The underbody was media-blasted and painted with black epoxy paint.“There are no signs of rust, and the frame rails are solid,” notes the seller.The original front door glass shows the etched Firebird emblems.Replaced in 1989, the power-operated convertible top is said to be in "excellent" condition.A black Deluxe interior includes Comfort Weave vinyl seats and a center console.The original gauge cluster has been replaced with a Rally cluster.The upholstery, carpet, door panels, and dash pad appear in very good condition.There are no reported issues with the chassis, suspension, or braking elements.Equipment includes factory power front disc brakes.Fourteen-inch Rally II wheels are matched with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires.
