Spawned from one of General Motors' most conservativedivisions, it built a fast reputation as one of the meanest andmost revered offerings of the muscle car era. And when you take aclose look at a gem like this Joe Castrigano restored convertible, you'll understand exactly why. 1 of only 164 Stage 1 M-40 drop-topsproduced for the 1970 model year, it's an inherently scarcecar.Naturally, it wraps a highly accurate restoration around a factoryborn with numbers-matching drivetrain. And, when you add in thefact that it's fully authenticated by official Sloan MuseumDocumentation, you get one incredible, investment grade classicthat's almost guaranteed to appreciate. If you're looking for someold school muscle car attitude, but want something that's uniqueenough to make even the most jaded gearheads take notice, TH IS isthe car for you! BODYWORK/TRIM-Born with classic good looks, this Buick's current condition comescourtesy of a complete, ground-up restoration that was conducted onthis; his personal car, by well-known Buick aficionado; Mr. JoeCastrigano; known in the hobby as "GS Joe".That professional reboot began with a complete strip of a rocksolid body. With its metal clean and fully prepped, the car'ssmooth fuselage was carefully sprayed in a correct layer of code 14Sliver Mist 2-stage. And the result is one arrow-straight classicthat displays a super-reflective finish, possesses no imperfectionsand presents as a stunning muscle car that literally embodies theterm 'crowd-gathering appeal'. By 1970, Buick had pretty much perfected its top dog performanceofferings both mechanically and aesthetically. At the front of thecar, a clean grille hangs a bold GS emblem between a broad bumper,chrome-trimmed headlights and clear parking lamps. Behind thatgrille, of factory-tint glass, polished stainless trim and correctBlack vinyl. At the sides of that hood, traditional door handlesand tri-shield stamped mirrors perfectly com, red-trimmed rockerguards and fresh GS Stage 1 ornamentation. And at the back of thecar, a second broad bumper centers a classy "BUICK" script betweenclear tail lamps, correct deck trim and a fourth "GS" emblem. ENGINE-While the exterior of this slick A-Body does an excellent job ofupholding GM Design's world-class visual aesthetics, the enginecompartment is where purists REALLY start to take notice. And forgood reason too, because the 455 cubic inch Stage 1 V8 that'sbolted between the car's freshly detailed fenders is the kind ofkiller powerhouse that makes people either put up or shut up. Turnthe key and a big Quadrajet carburetor mixes air from a black,dual-snorkel cleaner with fuel that's supplied by carefully bentstainless, and shoves it into a correct, cast iron intake. Thatintake feeds cast iron heads, which ride between a familiar pointsdistributor and fresh Packard TV R Suppression cables. Spent gasesare jetted through correct, cast iron manifolds, which rideunder polished and decaled valve covers. And a correct, heavydutyradiator utilizes pliable GM hoses and reproduction tower clamps toprovide ample cooling. The bright red block looks fantastic, framedin Satin Black fenders and dressed in an array of correct marks anddecals. Correct ancillary components, like an authentic DelcoMoraine brake booster, a Saginaw steering box and a high qualityDelco battery topper, prove that someone really sweated the detailsduring this Buick's top-notch restoration. And naturally, themonster mill displays a correct 1231738 casting number behind acorrect "SS" assembly stamp and matching partial VIN. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION-Under this Buick, it's just as the factory planned, except withmuch more precision and, subsequently, much more appeal. Anoriginal Muncie 4-speed hangs a matching partial VIN between acorrect 3925661 casting number and 1970 (0) Muncie (P) M40 (B)assembled on Octobe...for more information please contact theseller.
