Description:
Cruisin Classics is very excited to present to you this stunning1971 Plymouth GTX that just rolled into our showroom. This was thelast year for the GTX as a stand-alone model and only 2,942 wereproduced, making this a pretty rare Mopar. This GTX proudly wearsall original sheet metal and is dressed in a high driver qualityrespray of its original color - Lemon Twist (FY1). This GTX sportsa working factory-ordered Air Grabber hood (N96) with a matte blackbulge area around the intake and hood pins to keep it down. Theloop-type chrome front bumper makes an immediate impression andit's accentuated by dual black chin spoilers beneath. The GTX badgeat the center of the grill is in excellent condition, as is thePlymouth logo directly above the grille ahead of the hood. On topof the fenders are turn signal indicators for the driver and on thesides of the fenders are 440 decals above the side marker lights. There is plenty of quality brightwork to catch the eye on this GTX,with gleaming window trim, drip rail moldings, dual chrome sidemirrors, wheel lip molding, ribbed rocker molding, chrome doorhandles, and big GTX badges behind the doors on the rear quarters. This car still sports its originally ordered black accent stripes(V7X) that follow the curves of the lower body lines from bumper tobumper. The roof wears a black vinyl top (V1X) that is inimpeccable condition, and it really ties together all of the blackaccents on the exterior. Black touches continue around the backwith a matte black gull-wing spoiler on the decklid. The decklidalso wears a bright red GTX decal on its lower right side. The rearbumper has integrated taillights and it's just as brilliant as theone up front. Sticking out from below the lower rear valence is aset of correct slotted chrome exhaust tips (N42) that really add tothe cool look of the rear end. This whole amazing package has anaggressive stance as it sits atop chrome 5-spoke Cragar SS wheelswrapped in white letter BF Goodrich Radial T/A's. Pull the pins and lift the hood to find a clean and stock-lookingengine bay with an original trim tag on the driver's side fenderwell. At the center is a bright orange non-numbers matching 1972440ci V-8 topped with orange valve covers, a '72 intake manifold, aCarter AVS 4-barrel carburetor, and an orange air cleaner with a"Super Commando 440" decal on it. Other highlights include Chryslerelectronic ignition, power steering, and power brakes (front discrear drum). Exhaust flows through factory HP manifolds and factorydual exhaust before exiting those cool tips in the rear with aheavenly rumble. The big V-8 is mated to a number matching Chrysler727 Torqueflite 3-speed automatic transmission that sends power tothe wheels via an 8 " Chrysler rear end with 3.23:1 positractiongears. Take a peak under the car to find an exceptionally cleanundercarriage, a newer gas tank, and stock extra heavy-dutysuspension components. Open the driver's door to find a beautiful black interior withwoodgrain accents illuminated by a working dome and dash courtesylights. The formal black door panels feature woodgrain trim, decorative medallions, and a driver's side mirror toggle. Thepremium black vinyl bucket seats and center "buddy seat" are inexcellent condition with no rips or tears, and the same is true ofthe rear bench. Woodgrain trim decorates the gauge bezel and thepassenger side of the crack-free black dash. The gauge clusterincludes a 150mph speedometer and gauges for gas, alt, oilpressure, and temperature. The hidden 3-speed wipers function asthey should, as does the original Chrysler solid-state AMpush-button radio. To the left of the driver are simple controlsfor the heat fan and a factory switch beneath the dash thatoperates the Air Grabber hood. Under the upper lip of the dash is afactory rear-speaker fader knob. Open the glovebox to find that ittoo has a working courtesy light. Directly ahead of the driver is ablack 3-spoke OEM steering wheel with more woodgrain trim and aworking horn. Just behind the wheel on the column is the shifterfor the automatic transmission. Underfoot is a newer black carpetwith carpeted GTX logo floormats while overhead is a tight blackvinyl headliner. Back in the trunk, you'll find a vinyl mat, a fullspare tire, and a jack. Whether you're looking for a classic Mopar or just a cool musclecar, this GTX is going to get your heart pumping! This beauty isone of the last great American muscle cars of its era, and a rareone at that! There are two things you can count on when you getbehind the wheel of this GTX - you're going to have a smile on yourface and you're going to turn heads everywhere you go!
