Custom 1972 Chevrolet El Camino With a 454 V8
Financing:
Summary:
Used 1972 Chevrolet El Camino 5,000 miles
Location:
Norco, CA
Description:
The classic A-body design of this 1972 Chevrolet El Camino has been augmented inside and out, with its bright yellow color, revamped and leather-trimmed interior, and a swap from the original 350 V8 to a 454 big-block equipped with electronically controlled fuel injection. The engine is backed by a 700R-4 automatic, according to the seller, which enhances highway driving with overdrive. There’s even new, cold-blowing air conditioning, notes the seller, along with a number of other updates. The truck is said to have lived its whole life in the dry California air. POWERTRAIN Originally equipped with a 350, this El Camino is now powered by a 454-cu.in. OHV V8 that is said to start, idle, and run well with a Holley EFI system. It’s also fitted with cast-iron heads, a performance camshaft, an aluminum intake manifold, and long-tube headers, while the cooling system has a recently installed Champion radiator. The engine is paired with a 700R-4 four-speed automatic transmission that was reportedly rebuilt within the past 5,000 miles and is said to shift “perfectly.” It channels the big-block’s torque to a 12-bolt rear axle, notes the seller. EXTERIOR The age of this El Camino’s yellow paintwork is unknown, but appears to have held up well. “It’s very good,” says the seller, who adds there are “no blemishes” in the finish. The exterior trim and chrome also appear in very good condition, with an SS badge added to the grille and SS stripes added to the body. A cowl induction hood with hood pins was also added. There’s a spray-on bed liner, which appears in good shape. The same is said of the glass and seals, with no reported cracks or chips in the windshield and no known leaks from the seals. All the exterior lights are reported functional. INTERIOR Inside, the interior appears in very good condition, with the original bench seat changed for a pair of black leather-trimmed bucket seats and console between them. The seat covers and carpet appear in very good shape, with little apparent wear. There are no holes or rips in them, notes the seller, and there are no issues reported with the headliner, door panels, or dash pad. Additional modernization upgrades to the cabin include an aftermarket steering wheel, an aftermarket shifter, a Dakota Digital instrument panel, and a new Vintage Air A/C system. All are said to be in good, working condition. There’s also a tuner interface for the EFI system mounted on the console, and a modern Pioneer radio serves up the audio. CHASSIS According to the seller, the chassis, suspension, and braking components are in good condition, with no reported issues or needs. Upgrades includes tubular front control arms and disc brakes, according to the seller, and the truck rolls on 205/70R15 Hankook radials mounted on Weld Super Lite wheels. All are said to be in very good shape, with no reported curb rash or blemishes on the wheels. The age of the tires is not specified, but a single DOT date code from 2018 is visible. DOCUMENTATION The seller states that this vehicle will be sold on a clean California title in his name. Additional documentation for this 1972 Chevrolet El Camino includes receipts for parts and service performed during the past eight years. Its restomod updates, including a fuel-injected big-block and an overdrive transmission, enhance drivability, while air conditioning and a modern sound system help make this classic Chevy a more comfortable cruiser.
