This 1972 Ford Gran Torino Two-Door Hardtop has been in the seller's family since it was purchased new in May 1972 at Duval Ford in Jacksonville, Florida. The original red paint was repainted Torch Red in 1992 and the interior was custom upholstered. The original 302-cu.in. V8 was replaced with a 1970 429-cu.in. V8 and a C6 three-speed automatic. The original 8-inch rear end was upgraded to a 9-inch with 3.70:1 gears. This Torino was modified and upgraded over a 10-year period and completed in 2003. It has only been driven 3,256 miles since then. FEATURES The factory 302 V8 was upgraded to a big-block 429, per the seller.She notes the 429-cu.in. OHV V8 is rated at 385 horsepower.Speed equipment includes hi-po heads, a hi-po camshaft, and 10:1 flat-top pistons.The valvetrain uses Crane components.The carburetor is a Holley 670-cfm unit.The ignition uses MSD and Mallory components.The aluminum intake is an Offenhauser product and the valve covers are from Moroso.Hooker competition headers handle spent gases.A custom Griffin radiator with electric fans cool the engine.The seller reports no body damage.The grille and window trim has been blacked out but the bumpers are chrome.The seats and door panels were upholstered in two-tone red and black cloth.The red and black steering wheel is a Grant product.Aftermarket five-spoke alloy wheels wear Cooper Cobra radials.
