The Dodge truck line was dramatically restyled and updated for model year 1933 and sales rebounded sharply from the previous year. The new, higher roof "Humpback" panels, like this modified 1933 Dodge Panel Delivery were a big hit with commercial customers. The panels reportedly outsold pickups due to their greater cargo capacity and enclosed storage. All Humpback Panels had double "barn doors," compared to the single rear doors on sedan deliveries. The seller acquired this ’33 Dodge as a project from the widow of the person who started its restoration. POWERTRAIN The GM Vortec 4.3-liter OHV V6 reportedly came from a 1999 Chevrolet pickup donor with 55,000 miles on it and has not been rebuilt, according to the seller, who says the engine “runs fine.” Chevrolet rated the engine at 200 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque when new. The seller reports instant cold starts with no smoke and no leaks or weeps from the engine or the five-speed manual transmission. He does note that the differential cover has "normal" weeps. The manual overdrive transmission shifts quietly through all gears, per the seller. EXTERIOR Some rust repairs were performed on the lower parts of the rear portion of the body, according to the seller, who adds that repair panels were steel and welded in to eliminate all previous rust damage. He states that there is no current rust on either the body or the frame. The truck has all new wiring, per the seller, so all the lights work. The rear bumper is a custom one made of wood and diamond plate and the truck wears no front bumper. The right front fender has a spare tire well. The factory "soft" roof panel over the seating area has new rubber and no leaks, per the seller. INTERIOR The gray cloth bucket seats show no stains, rips, or wear, according to the seller, who adds that they work “as new.” He notes that the seatbelts need to be installed and adds that there is a new vinyl floormat in the passenger area and new wood in the cargo area. The headliner is new with no sags and a working dome light, per the seller, who reports that the aftermarket heater works as do the AutoMeter vintage-style gauges. The cargo area walls and ceiling have been insulated and carpeted. The truck doesn't have a stereo. CHASSIS The seller reports that the front section of the frame was modified to accept a modern double A-arm independent suspension, with power rack-and-pinion steering and vacuum-boosted power brakes. The truck drives straight but the seller says it needs a front end alignment. He adds that the front shocks are new but thinks the rear ones may be original. The truck has an "updated" but unspecified differential and a new driveshaft. The seller claims the tires are "almost new" and still have the little "nubbies," but no DOT codes were visible in the provided images. The steel wheels are "fine" in the seller's opinion, and they're protected by full chrome wheel covers.
