Said by the seller to be a daily drivable show car and track-capable competitor, this triple-threat 2016 Dodge Challenger SRT 392 has collected trophies and competed in Sports Car Club of America events, as well as the annual Holley Moparty event, where it won its class in 2021. It features a number of modifcations, including nitrous oxide capability, as well as lightweight elements that have reportedly brought the car’s curb weight down to 3,360 pounds. “It will make 620 horsepower, for a power-to-weight ratio of 5.4 pounds per horsepower,” says the seller. Much of that weight reduction is said to come from the use of carbon fiber replacement components. There’s also a custom Bilstein-based suspension system and more, but the seller notes this race-capable Challenger retains comfort features including air conditioning and the navigation system. POWERTRAIN Under its lightweight and lift-off hood is this Challenger’s original 6.4-liter “392” OHV V8, which in stock form was rated at 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. A camshaft upgrade and additional mods, including a Nitrous Express nitrous oxide system (single tank mounts in the trunk), help pump the output to 620 horsepower, says the seller, who states the Nitro system has not been used. There’s also a Diablo Trinity tuner. The engine, blowing through a custom exhaust system, is said to start and run well and has “the rumble of a moderately cammed engine,” notes the seller. It’s matched with the factory six-speed manual transmission, which features a Barton shifter. Additional powertrain upgrades include a lightweight aluminum flywheel, a multidisc clutch, and a carbon-fiber driveshaft. There are also two rear-axle drive units, one with a 3.09 ratio and the other with a 3.90 ratio. EXTERIOR According to the seller, many of the exterior panels on this Challenger have been replaced with lightweight composite parts, including the hood and front clip, the doors, and the trunk lid. The hood and trunk are painted flat black, while the rest of the car wears the original B5 Blue Pearl color. The front clip was painted in 2021, according to the seller. There are a couple blemishes in the finish, including a chip on the nose and dent the size of dime on the right-rear quarter panel, says the seller. All the glass has been replaced with lightweight Lexan and it’s said to be in good shape, but may have some small scratches, according to the seller. All the seals are said to be in good shape and all the exterior lights reportedly work. The seller also asserts the body is “rust-free.” INTERIOR Inside, the Challenger retains its creature comforts including air conditioning, the factory infotainment system featuring an 8-inch screen and navigation, and additional interior features. All are said to work normally, along with the gauges. The cabin has also been modified for racing with NGR Innovation front racing seats and the removal of the rear seat. The NGR seats are trimmed in micofiber and are said to be in very good condition. The same goes for the carpet, headliner, dash pad, and other interior trim. With the replacement carbon fiber seats, the factory power locks and windows are deleted, but the seller notes the original doors are included with the sale. The original rear seat is also included. CHASSIS When it comes to the chassis, suspension, and brake system, almost every element has been addressed for racing. In fact, the seller notes, “Almost every part has been swapped for a strong aluminum part from AAD and most joints are now Heim-style joints.” Those upgraded parts include aluminum control arms and Bilstein coilovers with custom, threaded aluminum bodies. The brake upgrades include Wilwood two-piece front rotors and CarboTech 12 pads at each corner. The car is said to drive smoothly, rolling on 200-treadwear racing tires and lightweight wheels. The tires are said to be a year old and reportedly show approximately half their tread. There are no DOT date codes visible in the photos and they’re not recommended for extended street use. The wheels are said to be in very good shape overall, but with some brake dust etching. DOCUMENTATION The seller states that this vehicle will be sold on a clean Tennessee title in his name. Additional documentation for this modified and reportedly race-ready 2016 Dodge Challenger SRT 392 includes a clean Carfax report. “This car is still a daily driver,” says the seller, adding the air conditioning and factory audio system still work. And while the car is also modified for racing, the seller says the major original parts are included. Whether used for the road or track, this late-model Mopar appears ready for anything.
