This 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T Hemi “was in the Otis Chandler collection, [later restored by another owner], and received a O.E. Certified Silver Certificate at the 1996 Mopar Nationals,” according to the seller. “It was also featured on the cover of Mopar Muscle magazine’s August 1997 issue.” He continues, “A non-original, but correctly date-coded 426 Hemi block with a VIN very close to the original was installed, and the matching-numbers 727 TorqueFlite automatic with slapstick, rear axle, and front clip remain. This California car’s underside looks as clean as the topside, and it runs and looks amazing,” he adds. FEATURES An “R” in the fifth position of the VIN denotes the 426 Hemi option.The 425-horsepower, 426-cu.in. Hemi OHV V8 features dual Carter AFB carbs.Hemispherical combustion chamber heads highlight this V8’s design.The engine does not smoke.The 727 TorqueFlite automatic shifts as it should.For this car, the Super-Performance Axle Package was specified.Its Dana 60 rear axle has 4.10:1 gears.There’s “no evidence of past body damage,” per the seller.The Hemi Orange paint is in “very good to excellent condition.”Hood pins and chrome racing mirrors were factory installed.A rear spoiler is present.The body seals are “good and don’t leak.”The black bucket seat interior is “excellent,” he says.All of the gauges work properly, as do the AM radio and heater.The heavy-duty suspension and power steering systems are “good.”So too, are the power front disc/rear drum brakes."Excellent" is used to describe the steel 15-inch Rallye wheels.
