The lightweight, subcompact 1975-'80 Chevrolet Monza was immediately popular with racers and hot rodders, and over the years countless examples have been modified for the street and drag strip. This Pro Street version of a 1978 Chevrolet Monza 2+2 Hatchback straddles the line between street and strip and is said by the seller to be an attention-getter that was professionally constructed. It’s a “back-halved” car with a custom rear subframe, while the powertrain includes a nitrous-fed 357-cubic-inch Chevy small-block and an ATI-built Powerglide sending power to a narrowed 9-inch rear axle. FEATURES The 357-cu.in. OHV V8 has Manley H-beam rods, JE forged pistons, and a Chevrolet steel crank shaft.There’s also a Lunati roller cam with 0.640/0.645-inch lift and 308/316 degrees duration.Dart Pro One aluminum heads feature Harland Sharp rockers and a Dart stud girdle.Induction comes from a Holley 750 carburetor on an aluminum intake manifold.Additional parts include a Weiand water pump, Hooker headers, and MSD ignition.A 3-inch exhaust system features Borla XR-1 mufflers.An NOS “wet” nitrous system is complemented with a Holley Blue electric fuel pump.A Holley Black electric fuel pump supplies the engine when running only on gasoline.An ATI-built Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission incorporates a trans brake.The transmission also features a Coan 8-inch converter and a B&M SuperCooler.Drivetrain elements include a heavy-duty driveshaft with Strange billet yokes.The rear axle is a narrowed Ford 9-inch with Moser axles and a Richmond gear set.The body is mostly stock, but the rear wheel openings are enlarged for the racing-style tires.There’s also a lift-off fiberglass hood with a 5-inch cowl scoop and Dzus fasteners.The silver paintwork, with custom graphics, is said to be in very good condition.The finish is said to show minor rock chips, but no scratches or other significant blemishes.A black vinyl interior has been modified with racing seats, a 10-point roll cage, and more.The dashboard incorporates a number of aftermarket gauges and switches.There’s also a B&M ProComp floor shifter for the automatic transmission, with a line lock.The heater has been eliminated.The cargo area is filled with carpeted wheels tubs, a nitrous bottle, and a battery box.A custom rear subframe was spliced into the chassis.The rear suspension has been converted to a four-link design with coilover shocks.There are line lock disc brakes at all corners, along with a five-lug wheel hub conversion.The car rolls on classic Weld Draglite racing wheels and racing-style tires.Per the seller, the Hoosier Quick Time 31x18.5-inch rear tires are new, with “zero” miles.According to the seller, there is no rust, rust repair, or body damage noted anywhere.The car is registered for street use.It is equipped with a gear drive camshaft unit with billet housing.Has MSD 6AL ignition box with dash mounted timing control.
