The Twister Special was a promotional package for sale through Kansas City region Ford dealers. From 2009 to 2020, this 1970 Ford Torino Cobra Twister Special was “rotisserie restored to the correct factory standards, while retaining all of the original sheet-metal, using correct Ford parts, and applying factory markings throughout,” the seller reports. He continues, “At MCACN in Chicago in 2021, it received 992 points out of 1,000. This car also recently took first place at the Carlisle Ford Nationals. It is stunning in person and would be a cornerstone to anyone's collection. It’s 1-of-90 Torino Cobra Twister Specials produced in 1970, 1-of-60 equipped with the automatic transmission, and 1-of-only-29 currently known to exist.” FEATURES This car was sold new at Scarbrough Ford in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.Its J-code, Cobra Jet Ram Air 429-cu.in. OHV V8 was rated at 370 horsepower.This car’s engine is date-code correct and was built to stock specs.It isn’t original to the car.This Ford was fitted with the C-6 three-speed automatic.Its rear axle is 3.50:1-geared and has Traction-Lok.This vehicle has “never suffered body damage,” per the seller.It was repainted in its original Calypso Coral during its rotisserie resto.The factory rear window louvers are on the car.Inside, the black vinyl upholstered interior is in very good condition.A prior owner had replaced the front bench seat with bucket seats.The original AM radio remains.Power steering and power brakes were added decades ago.They were retained for the restoration.The underside of the car is as detailed as the topside.
