According to the seller, this 1961 Chevrolet Corvette “has been featured in Vette, Super Chevy, and Hot Rod magazines.” He purchased the car in 1998 and is the third owner. “It was body-off restored,” he notes. “The man who had it before me did most of the work, and he was well known for being super meticulous. The guy who did the custom paint job was also known for being the best in SoCal at painting Corvettes and working with fiberglass. Little Louie in San Bernardino, California, did the flames, and he's famous for that.” The seller states that the “dual-quad 283 is numbers matching,” but no photos of the codes and numbers on the engine block stamping pad have been provided for verification. Additional significant upgrades include four-wheel disc brakes; larger wheels; and low-profile, high-performance tires. “I've only put 3,000 miles on the Corvette since I bought it, and it’s solid with no issues,” he asserts. FEATURES The seller says that the dual-quad, 270-horsepower 283-cu.in. OHV V8 was “completely rebuilt.”Headers and Flowmaster mufflers improve exhaust flow.About 1,000-miles have been accrued since its completion.“It just starts right up with little to no smoke,” he says.The four-speed manual transmission shifts perfectly.A 3.70:1 geared Positraction axle is out back, per the Vette article.The paint is "perfect and so are the flames," he says.“The finish is 28 years old, but the car has been kept covered in my garage since day one.”"There really aren't any dents or chips," the seller notes.Everything works as designed with the soft top.No scratches or cracks are in any of the glass.The seals aren’t worn or leaking, and the exterior lighting works.He had the seats reupholstered and the dash has been totally renovated."Perfect condition" is how he describes the carpet and soft top.The gauges and the heater function properly.A Wonder Bar radio is present but is disconnected because a working modern stereo is installed.The 17-inch American Racing aluminum wheels are said to be "perfect," with no vibration at speed."Still like new" is how the seller describes the General tires."Very little play, if any" is in the steering system, he says.The bushings and shocks are good, and the four-wheel disc brakes perform “perfectly.” COMES WITH The original, unrestored hard top with all the hardware is included in the sale.A receipt for the engine rebuild will be provided.The Vette magazine article comes with the car.
