One of 21,380 similar cars built in the final year of “Early Bird” production, this 1957 Ford Thunderbird Convertible is offered for sale as an upgraded version of this Fifties classic. Repainted in what the seller says is its original shade of Dusk Rose, this Thunderbird is reported to now have a non-original 312-cu.in. Y-block V8. The seller says the Thunderbird has been fitted with aftermarket power rack-and-pinion steering, along with door pulls, Coker Classic whitewall tires, and a solid-state Town and Country audio system. The seller states that “many rusted areas” were corrected with new metal after the Thunderbird was found in a barn. The Thunderbird will be sold with its factory hard top and lift assist for its convertible top. A start-in-park safety switch has been added to the automatic transmission. Based on the photos, both the engine bay and underside present as very clean. The Thunderbird is said to be in very good overall condition, with the seller noting that the car “can be driven anywhere.” FEATURES The non-original 312-cu.in. OHV V8 was factory rated at 245 horsepower.The replacement engine has no stated rebuild history.The white vinyl seats show no damage, and the dashboard presents strongly.All trim and small controls appear to be complete and in good shape.The Thunderbird’s metallized dash insert presents very well.Auxiliary engine gauges have been installed beneath the dashboard.The fuel tank has reportedly been cleaned and resealed.No functional issues with the hard or soft tops are noted.LED taillamps and backup lamps have reportedly been installed.
