An exceptionally rare, highly original and unrestored 2 owners from new and low mileage Fiat 2300S coupe, one of the last made.History of this carThis car is a documented one owner from new example.According to the Fiat historical archive, this 2300S was manufactured in January 1968 at the Lingotto Turin factory. As such, it was amongst the very last 2300S coupe models built, although the Fiat archive for this model is incomplete beyond 1965, so it could well be the last one made as by the time it was manufactured it was concurrent with the arguably more desirable, at the time anyway, Dino 2 litre coupe.BodyThis Ghia designed body is in exceptionally well preserved condition, having benefitted from living in California for all its life. The body is rock solid with an equally rust and accident free looking chassis.To help keep this unique body in fine shape, we have Dinitrol rust protected all cavities.The paintwork, in Bleu chiaro (code 429) is the original colour albeit an older repaint. According to the previous owner, the car was repainted once in the 1980s due to fading of the paintwork. The finish is very good overall with some minor colour mismatch to some panels where localised blow-ins have been performed. There is a scratch to the boot lid and two small blisters to the passenger door bottom. Overall, the paint makes for a very good first impression, although not perfect consistent with an older painting.Importantly all of the intricate trim is complete and undamaged, with some minor pickling to the front bumper and grille.The glass is perfect and undamaged in any way.The road wheels have been blasted and repainted in the original colour by us as we changed the original, perished tyres.MechanicsDue to the advancing years of the previous owner, our 2300S has seen little use recently. We have therefore carried out servicing as follows:Replacing all 4 tyres with original specification Michelin XZX radialsRemoving and re-coring the radiatorReplacing all water hosesSupply and fit new old stock distributor cap and points, new plugsMake up and fit new original thin gaugeNew oils and filtersChassis lubricationNew fuel hosesReplacing of brake hoseOur 2300S starts on the button, and makes a fantastic noise thanks to the Abarth sports exhaust fitted. Engine oil pressure is good, and it has minimal smoke. The gearbox has excellent synchros and is quiet, as is the back axle.The engine room is nicely detailed with correct finishes throughout.The car drives very well, and is crying out for some regular use!InteriorThe detail in this Italian Rolls Royce is extraordinary and must have cost a fortune to make. Our car is all original inside with negligible wear to the carpets and upholstery, in that oh so period perforated vinyl.The dash top is uncracked and the instrumentation very crisp; the fascia is topped off with a relacquered by us and very beautiful Nardi steering wheel.A 1970s Philips radio is fitted (working). The headlining has one small seam where the stitching has come adrift, but overall this is a remarkable survivor cabin, complete with passenger footrest and transmission tunnel grab handle.BootAgain very clean with correct diamond stitched vinyl showing minimal wear. Lifting the spare wheel access panel shows the original spare and an apparently unused toolkit in an original, undamaged bag.
