The 1973 Type 2 VW Bus was refurbished between 2015 2018. The body was stripped, and it was then refinished in its current shade of Fiat Verde Chiaro. The bumpers were refinished to match the body, the roof was painted Volkswagen white, and the weather seals were replaced. Equipment includes a front fog light, front quarter windows, black headlight bezels, and red and white taillights.The front cabin was reupholstered in tan vinyl sourced from TMI Products on the custom folding front bench seat and door panels. A body-color European-style dashboard and custom center console has been added, and additional equipment includes a glove box, a replacement headliner, a USB port, Bluetooth amplified, brown carpeting and professional under-glow light package. The center console houses VDO oil pressure, temperature and voltage gauges, as well as shock air pressure. Also present are fill and dump switches for the suspension. The rear cabin bench was also reupholstered in tan vinyl upholstery sourced from TMI Products with matching side panels, replacement carpeting, and aftermarket speakers.A Type 4-sourced 2.0L flat-four and a Freeway Flyer four-speed manual transaxle was installed by Brothers Machine in Ontario, California and it is fitted with Kaddie Shack IDF 40 carburetors and a PerTronix electronic ignition. Additional equipment includes period-style power-coated tin, a rebuilt alternator, a replacement starter, a refurbished fuel tank, and an electric washer pump. The bus features 17 EMPI Fuchs-style wheels, a Wagenswest narrowed and adjustable beam and dropped spindles, Monroe air shocks with an onboard compressor, front disc brakes, Kaddie Shack IDF 40 carburetors, a PerTronix electronic ignition, a European-style dashboard, a custom center console, and a folding front bench. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Freeway Flyer four-speed manual transaxle that was rebuilt by Benco Transaxles in Upland, California. The clutch components were also replaced.The EMPI 17 Fuchs-style wheels were custom-modified in the front and are mounted in Achilles ATR-K Economist tires. A matching spare is mounted in the rear compartment. The front fenders were tubbed, and the front beam was raised 1 into the frame while the rear frame was notched 3 to clear the axles. Additional equipment includes a Wagenswest narrowed and adjustable beam with dropped spindles in the front, Wagenswest rear adjustable spring plates and 3.5 dropped U-plates, and Monroe air shocks paired with an onboard compressor allowing the bus to raise up 2.5. Additional work includes steering box, linkage, ball joints, and the brake master cylinder, front discs, rear drums, and braided stainless-steel lines. A new battery was installed in 2022.
