Description:
This Cadillac is ending at auction tomorrow (Wed. July 10th) at NO RESERVEView here : https://www.mohrimports.com/for-sale/cadillac/1940-cadillac-series-62/1564.html This 1940 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 60 Special sedan is a non-running project that is said to have been used as a police car under previous ownership before it was purchased by the current owner’s late husband in 1996. The car is finished in black over gray cloth upholstery and retains a 346ci Monobloc V8, a three-speed manual transmission, chrome bumpers with overriders, dual spotlights, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and an under-dash cassette player. It is unknown when the car was last run, and maintenance will be required prior to use. This 60 Special is now offered on dealer consignment at no reserve with a clean California title in the owner’s name. The Fleetwood-built bodywork was delivered from the factory in Chickory Green Metallic (13) and was repainted black under previous ownership. Features include chrome bumpers and overriders, a hood ornament, an antenna, and dual spotlights. Wear in the paint and other imperfections in the finish can be seen in the gallery. Body-color wheels wear chrome hubcaps, and they are mounted with Columbia Deluxe bias-ply whitewall tires. A spare wheel is stowed beneath the trunk floor. The 60 Special rode on a 127? wheelbase and featured an X-frame chassis with a coil-sprung independent front suspension and rear semi-elliptical leaf springs. The car retains hydraulically assisted drums at all four corners. The cabin features bench seats trimmed in gray cloth with color-matching door panel centers and carpets. Dark gray vinyl accents the upper and lower door panels and the front bench, and additional features include an AM radio, a locking glovebox, an under-dash Optimus cassette player, kick panel-mounted speakers, a rear footrest, and a rear folding armrest. The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a painted steel dashboard housing a 100-mph sweep speedometer and auxiliary gauges. A three-gauge pod is mounted beneath the dash. The five-digit odometer shows under 58k miles, and a Hobbs hour meter has been added in the engine bay and shows 174 hours. Total mileage is unknown. The 346ci Monobloc V8 features three main bearings and was factory rated at 135 horsepower. It is unknown when the car was last run, and maintenance will be required prior to use. The car retains a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission. Corrosion on the undersides can be seen in the gallery.
