Along withrestyled bodies for 1951, Chrysler repositioned the upscale Town &Country nameplate to a handsome, low-production station wagon forthe Saratoga and New Yorker model lines. A mild styling update for1952 was followed by further revisions for 1953, focused to a newfrontal treatment and the addition of a new and fashionably curvedwindshield. The Town & Country station wagon was now made availableon the 6-cylinder Windsor and V-8 New Yorker lines. Production for1953 rose drastically over the previous model year, thanks in partto lowered prices as the economic uncertainty caused by the Koreanconflict waned and America's economy was poised for a return togrowth. Rare as one of only 1,242 examples produced, this 1953Chrysler Windsor Town & Country station wagon is a wonderfulexample, sporting a restoration and benefiting from the priorownership of renowned collector Chuck Schneider in Michigan.Appropriately finished in two-tone Green paint with Brown interiorupholstery, the Town & Country is powered by Chrysler's robust 265CI "Spitfire" inline 6-cylinder engine, factory-rated at 119horsepower and paired with Chrysler's innovative Fluid Drive3-speed transmission, a Chrysler innovation which would be phasedout later in the 1953 model year. The rear passenger/cargocompartment is particularly impressive, featuring a wood-paneledcargo floor, folding rear seat and substantial chrome-platedhardware and fittings.
