It all started in 1969, when Coca-Cola decided it wanted to do apromotion where the top prize would be a hot-rodded 1969 428ciCobra-Jet-powered Mercury Cougar. Coca-Cola partnered up with CarCraft Magazine and Don Nicholson, aka "Dyno Don," to build a showversion of Dyno Don's Super Stock cougar. It traveled around todifferent promotional events and races, where it would do NHRAexhibition runs. Ford sent the car to Don's shop, where it wasblueprinted and a few secret tweaks to the engine were done. Alsoadded a set of Lakewood traction bars, Jardine headers, new dragshocks, a set of Cragar SS wheels and a set of slicks. Don decidedto install a Hurst Competition shifter and linkage setup. InSeptember 1969, Coca-Cola gave the car to one lucky winner in Ohio.Sadly, he had to sell it. It was rediscovered in 1999, then wasgiven a full restoration taking 3 years to accomplish. After itsrestoration, it has changed hands a few times and is currently in aprivate car collection. In 2016 "Super Cat" took OutstandingFirst-Time Showing from MCACN and the Platinum Pick Judge's Choice;in 2019, it received an Invitation Display Certificate from MCACNand it was featured on the cover of MCACN Magazine.
