3 year Frame-off Restoration from 2015-2018Great engine, Great paint, Great chrome, Great interior, NEW Top.Late last year, after a 3 year long restoration, the Triumph was completed and the owner discovered that the clutch disc had stuck , and would not release (a typical British problem).After acquiring the car, our assessment of the situation, and a consideration of the quality of the car, prompted us to remove the transmission and resolve the problem correctly.I know there are ways that may be used to jolt the clutch free, but my past experience is that residues are left on the flywheel and plate, and do not leave a smooth operating clutch. In addition there is the possibility of breaking something in the drive train by forcing the release, and that is not how I have done things for the last 6 decades.We had the flywheel machined, and replaced the entire British clutch assembly with a NEW preferred LUK unit from Germany.The TR6 is not known to have a smooth operating clutch, so at the same time, we replaced the Master and Slave cylinders with the .70 long throw conversion set that has been designed for better operation. Now the clutch operates extremely well, much better than the original design.Because the engine has triple Webers, cam, and stainless steel headers , while the transmission was out, we sent the head to the machine shop for a .050 shave to bring the compression up, and we replaced it using a new high performance head gasket.The car runs and drives beautifully, and the 7 miles "mileage" is correct since it's restoration, although it increases as we continue to drive it to break it in. Nearly everything is NEW, NOS (New Old Stock), Rechromed, Rebuilt, Reconditioned, or Refreshed. Outstanding Paint and the Body is straight and without waves.The engine is a rebuilt preferred CC80188UE with head 312388 shaved .050 ,with Triple Weber sidedrafts, cam, and stainless headers which run through Monza DUAL Exhausts.The engine idles nicely with a very pleasant tone, and sings a song as it pulls strongly from 2700 rpm's upward.Since it is ânewâ, we are still driving it in the break-in modThe transmission was rebuilt with new layshaft and new synchros.It and the rebuilt overdrive work great, making highway cruising at lower rpm's really pleasant. It uses Redline MT90 lube. In conjunction with the NEW LUK clutch and the conversion of the hydraulic system to .70, shifting is slick and enjoyable.Tires are 'new' Bridgestone 205/70-15's and were put on the car during it's restoration.Wheels have correct appearance with center caps.A spare tire/wheel is stowed in the compartment under the trunk panel and carpet.Steering is excellent.This is a superb body, with all solid sheetmetal. The body was carefully restored and painted by a real Craftsman. It sits on a chassis that has had the rear suspension reinforcing added, and then painted and coated.Bumper chrome is beautiful, with a rechromed front and NOS original rear... no after-market crap.This gorgeous Triumph has the very popular Miata Seat Conversion,with leather seats that very closely match the NEW upholstery.These high backs are very comfortable, and slide adjust easily.All NEW Carpet, including underlayment, on solid floors with no patches.
