The rear-engined Braslia was sold in a three or five door hatchback body style and was built using the 1600cc flat-four engine from the Beetle and the chassis of the Karmann Ghia. The Braslia was largely sold in South America. but knockdown kit versions were sold in Nigeria under the name Igala. Production of the Volkswagen Braslia lasted until 1982.
