The many months of restoration have come to an end with new interior and many mechanical/cosmetic updates on our 1988 Chevy Blazer. The weather has been cooperating nicely to drive around with the top off while we update it with new gaskets and window guides. Although not a one person operation, the top is simple to remove and re-install. Its a shame to see owners who never take the time to really enjoy these vehicles the way they were meant to be. Lots of thumbs up and looks while driving this time capsule. Powered by a 5.7 350 and Auto transmission, the Blazer starts immediately and runs/drives great. The sound is a real pleasure as well. Exhaust is throaty and really plays music with the top off. Even with the top on, the rear power window drops into the tailgate for some nice airflow.We had the interior gutted to the bare floor and completely outfitted with Dynamat floor covering, new carpet, new seat covers, new door panels, custom rear panels, new stereo system/speakers, new headliner, new gaskets for the top and rear window, new dash pad, just about everything you could think of inside. The exterior is super clean and has had a full repaint in the original factory white which looks incredible against the blue interior.Body and frame are rust free! That is an incredible difference to the vast majority of the 1988 vehicles in our part of the country. The truck was originally a CA car and spent its time in a hot/dry climate (which also smoked the interior, hence replacement).Mechanically, we replaced brakes, alternator, all fluids replaced, filters changed, new wipers, and remanufactured the radiator. AC was working, but will need a condenser and may have another leak. Odometer reads 39,768 but Carfax shows that it seems to be flipped over to 139k. The Clean PA title reads 39k as well, however the true mileage should be noted as unknown. Spending its life in California until 2021 has kept the underside of this truck in excellent condition and will be a stunning surprise to anyone who knows these cars and has seen the many rot-box examples on the market.
