Debuting all the wayback in 1967, Pontiac unveiled the Firebird, a competent pony car,brother to the Camaro and fellow competitor to the well-known andmighty Ford Mustang. The Firebird would see many changes over theyears, but one thing is for certain, they all looked good. TheFirebird would see 4 generations that would span 35 years. ForFormulas and Trans Am's in '96, functional dual inlet "Ram Air"hoods returned as part of the WS6 performance package, as well asupgraded shocks & suspension springs and bushings, largerroll-bars, 17" wheels and the dual oval exhaust tips. This T/A ispowered by a healthy 5.7-liter V8 linked to a Tremec T56 6-speedmanual transmission with a new Competition clutch, limited-slipdifferential and WS6 Ram Air Performance and Handling Package. Thecar is finished in Bright Red and features removable glass roofpanels. Additional equipment includes a rear spoiler, Ram Air hood,a power antenna, pop-up headlights, fog lights, and dual exhaustoutlets. The interior is upholstered in black leather bucket seatswith a color-coordinated dashboard, center console, carpets, anddoor panels. The interior amenities include a Pioneer radio, ashort throw shifter, air conditioning, cruise control, remotekeyless entry, bolstered front seats, and power accessories. ChromeCorvette style 17" alloy wheels are mounted with 275/40s on allfour corners and four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes came standard.The leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel fronts a 155-mphspeedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer and auxiliary gauges that includeoil pressure, coolant temperature, battery voltage and fuel level.The six-digit mechanical odometer shows just under 127k Carfaxreported miles. These cars are growing rapidly amongst collectorsand this one will certainly be a fine addition!
