This 1942 Ford Super Deluxe Sedan Coupe was built “during the last year of civilian production before the switch over for World War II,” the seller notes. He purchased the car in 2023, and though it was restored “about 15 years ago,” he says, “it’s still in great condition. I drive it almost every weekend, weather permitting.” FEATURES The seller believes the odometer was returned to zero when the car was restored.He says a one-barrel carbureted, 90-horsepower, 221-cu.in. L-head V8 is under the hood.He was told by the prior owner that the V8 is original to the car, but he hasn’t confirmed it.The electrical system was converted to 12-volt from 6-volt about 15 years ago.In 2023, a new 12-volt alternator that looks like the original 6-volt generator was installed.The carburetor was rebuilt in that same year.No smoke comes from the engine.The three-speed manual transmission shifts properly.The seller isn’t aware of past body damage, and says it was repainted about 15 years ago.Blue-dots have been added to the taillamp lenses.Inside is tan cloth upholstery and a functioning radio.The four-wheel drum brakes perform as they should.Body-colored 16-inch steel wheels with Ford hubcaps are wrapped in wide-whitewall tires.“This car runs and drives great,” he adds. COMES WITH Electronic ignition, new sparkplug wires, and the old generator are included in the sale. NEEDS This Ford drips oil from the pan, "just like most from that era," the seller reports.There’s a small scratch on trunk lid and small paint bubble on driver’s fender, he says.The clock and windshield wipers do not work. OVERVIEW The car was built during a tumultuous era in U.S. history.Its older restoration has held up quite well, as revealed in the photos.A 12-volt electrical system conversion was performed.The Ford is said to be reliable enough for frequent drives.
